EGYPTIAN BLUE FAIENCE HIPPOPOTAMUS AMULET - Middle Kingdom, Ca. 2055 - 1790 BC. A bright blue faience figure of a reclining hippopotamus shown with the hind legs folded tightly beneath the body and the forelegs extended forward. The rounded snout is marked with incised nostrils, and the small ears are set high above almond-shaped eyes.
