EGYPTIAN PAINTED WOODEN FALCON/HORUS - Late Period, Ca. 664 - 332 BC. A figure of a falcon made from wood with gesso and polychrome decoration, shown seated with wings folded close to the body and tail resting against an integral base. The head is painted in cream with bold black markings around the eyes and beak, the crown in solid black. The body is covered in red pigment with black spots, and a vertical band of black hieroglyphs runs down the centre of the chest.
