EGYPTIAN FAIENCE USHABTI OF HAT - New Kingdom, XXth Dynasty, Ca. 1185 - 1070 BC. An attractive Egyptian faience ushabti standing in mummiform with fused legs and feet, The bipartite wig and details such as the the usekh collar, etc., are painted in black. The arms are crossed on the chest and are also outlined in black. The hands are depicted in light relief. On the back, the seed basket is painted in black, and its crossed fibres are rendered by horizontal and vertical lines. It is suspended on the shoulders by two straps. A single vertical column of hieroglyphic text is painted on the front of the figure framed by two vertical lines, which unusually extend under the feet to form a small column on the back. The inscription names the owner, Hat4. Dd mdw i(n sHD)5 Wsir nb6-nHH HqA Dt n kA (n) Wsir 1At [mAa-xrw]. “Word to say: the illuminated one (sic!), Osiris Lord of Neheh-eternty, ruler of Djet-eternty7, for the ka (of) the Osiris Hat [true of voice]”.
