PAIR OF EGYPTIAN BLUE FAIENCE ANIMAL-SHAPED SCARABS - Ca. 1550 - 30 BC. A pair of faience scarab amulets in blue, each with red detailing. The upper face of the piece on the left depicts the head of a cobra with red eyes and subtle lateral ridges, suggesting the spread hood. The piece on the right represents a frog, its body compact with a rounded back and slightly protruding limbs, the head marked with two raised, circular eyes in red. The undersides of both amulets bear hieroglyphic inscriptions enclosed within a cartouche-like frame.
