APULIAN LEKANIS WITH LADY OF FASHION - Ca. 400 - 300 BC. A red-figure pottery lekanis featuring a black-glazed wide-bodied container with a footed base and a matching lid with an upward projecting handle. The lid is decorated with the profile busts of Ladies of Fashion, adorned with jewellery and elaborate coiffures, separated by palmettes. A band of vertical strokes encircles the outer edge of the lid. The knobbed handle is painted with a rosette. The interior of the base is covered in black gloss.
