HELLENISTIC MATCHED PAIR OF GOLD LUNAR-SHAPED EARRINGS - Ca. 200 BC - AD 100. A matched pair of hollow-formed gold earrings of crescentic form. Each earring is ornamented with applied wires in sinuous patterns running along the tapered terminals and small granules forming trefoil clusters at the midsection. One earring preserves an additional pendant element composed of spherical beads suspended from the base. The hoop fastenings are formed from solid gold wire secured through perforations at the terminals.
