ROMAN GARNET INTAGLIO WITH GRYLLOS IN GOLD RING - Ca. AD 100 - 300. A garnet intaglio engraved with a figure of Gryllos shown in profile, combining a human head with the body of a cockerel. The intaglio is set into a deep circular bezel of a possibly later high carat (21ct) gold ring with a slender, polygonal hoop.
