BYZANTINE SILVER SPOON WITH INSCRIPTION 'POLYCRONION' - Ca. AD 500 - 600. A silver spoon with a deep pear-shaped bowl. A C-scroll junction links the bowl to a long tapering handle that terminates in a pointed finial. The handle is thickened at the junction and inscribed with 'POLYCRONION'. Size: 180mm x 28mm; Weight: 20.12g Provenance: Private London collection, acquired on the German art market, Munich before 2000.
