MATCHED PAIR OF BYZANTINE GOLD AND PEARL EARRINGS - Ca. AD 400 - 600. A matched pair of gold hoop earrings with pendant bead drops. Each hoop is formed from round-section wire with a hooked fastening and a short ribbed sleeve at the lower junction. The drops are built of stacked gold reel spacers alternating with pearls, one drop incorporating a blue bead between dotted collars, both terminating in a small hook finial.For similar see: ?.
