STUNNING MATCHED PAIR OF LATE ROMAN / BYZANTINE GOLD AND PEARL EARRINGS - Ca. AD 400 - 600. A pair of gold pendant earrings, each composed of a circular openwork rosette surmounting a raised round collet set with a purple cabochon. The rosette is joined by short struts to a horizontal bar from which descend three articulated drops, formed as rhomboid box-collets set with small cabochons and terminating in globular pearl beads.
