COLLECTION OF BYZANTINE TERRACOTTA OIL LAMPS WITH MOULDED DECORATION - Ca. AD 500 - 600. A collection of three terracotta oil lamps, including, from left to right: a pear-shaped lamp with rounded shoulder, the circular discus enclosed by a double raised ring, with a shallow channel leading to a circular wick hole at the short nozzle; a drop-shaped lamp with a moulded channel around the discus, short oblique strokes on the shoulder, and a small rear lug; and a teardrop-shaped lamp with an upturned handle and a short tubular nozzle with a circular wick hole.For similar see: K.
