EGYPTIAN CARNELIAN CAT AMULET - Late Period, Ca. 664 - 332 BC. A carnelian cat amulet, carved as a recumbent feline with the forepaws drawn forward and the hindquarters tucked beneath the body. The head rises from a slender neck with alert, triangular ears and a tapered muzzle. The back is smoothly contoured, the haunches full, and the tail curls around the right flank to the rump.
