MUGHAL DAGGER WITH JADE RAM-SHAPED INLAID HANDLE - Ca. 17th - 18th century AD. A dagger with a slightly recurved, single-edged steel blade drawn to a reinforced point, the forte with a gilt collar decorated in koftgari scrolling arabesques. The hilt is carved from jade as a ram’s head with modelled horns and a pronounced muzzle, the eyes set with red stones. The grip is ornamented with kundan-set rosettes and leaf motifs in red, turquoise and green stones, above a red gem band at the guard.Size: 335mm x 50mm; Weight: 240gProvenance: Private UK Collection.This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
