MUGHAL DAGGER WITH ROCK CRYSTAL INLAID HANDLE - Ca. 17th - 18th century AD. A dagger with a slender, single-edged, recurved steel blade, the forte with panels of gold koftgari foliate ornament and a small cartouche, a narrow medial ridge running towards the point. The hilt is carved of rock crystal with a flared, lobed pommel and a small loop, each face inset in kundan with cabochon rubies and emeralds arranged as flowering sprays with gold tendrils; a gilt ferrule above the forte.Size: 390mm x 60mm; Weight: 545gProvenance: Private UK Collection.This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
