MUGHAL INLAID HUQQA BASE - Ca. 18th - 19th century AD. A gem-set huqqa base with a compressed globular form rising to a short tubular neck with a moulded collar and everted rim. The body is decorated with a latticed network of fine gold wire forming lozenges, each field set with a stylised bud spray composed of pear-shaped cabochons in gold collets, the petals and leaves arranged in rubies, emeralds, and turquoise, with further buds and drops spaced around the neck and collar.Size: 180mm x 160mm; Weight: 1.5kgProvenance: Private UK Collection.This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
