PAIR OF PORCELAIN DE PARIS FIGURINES OF AN OTTOMAN SULTAN AND SULTANA - Ca. 19th century AD. A pair of porcelain figures of an Ottoman sultan and sultana, each seated on piled tasselled cushions above shaped rocaille plinths enriched with gilt foliate ornament. The sultan wears a turban and layered robes, a sash at the waist with a sabre at his side, one hand raised with a kerchief and the other resting on a scroll-ended seat. The sultana wears a turban and jewelled bodice with puffed sleeves, a flower held in the right hand. Both figures are painted in bright polychrome with gilt detailing to the garments and cushions.Size: 230-340mm x 130-135mm; Weight: 2.6kgProvenance: Private UK Collection.
