AN OTTOMAN ILLUMINATED PRAYER BOOK, DALA'IL AL-KHAISRAT - Ottoman, Turkey, Ca. 19th century AD . An Arabic manuscript on paper, with a note from The British Museum, London, Department of Oriental Printed Books and Manuscripts. Dala'il Al-Khaisrat. 95 leaves plus flyleaves, with 15 lines of black naskh script per page, surah titles and important sections in red, gold verse markers throughout, and diacritics in red. The text opens with a finely illuminated headpiece (?unw?n) in gold, blue, and polychrome floral motifs. One spread features finely rendered architectural diagrams - possibly of Mecca and Medina - framed within floral borders. Bound in a dark brown tooled leather binding with central medallion and cornerpieces, flap cover with pink lining.Size: 155mm x 110mm; Weight: 185gProvenance: Previous property of a UK based Islamic art professional.
