OTTOMAN RED JACKET AND SHALWAR - Ca. 19th - 20th century AD. A two-piece set comprising a jacket and shalwar. The short, straight-bodied jacket with a front opening and long, narrow sleeves, embroidered in gilt thread with scrolled breast panels and enriched cuffs, the seams and hem edged with narrow metallic braids. The matching shalwar of voluminous cut with a low seat, tapering to the ankles, the legs decorated with vertical bands of gilt embroidery and large motifs to the outer sides.Size: 1160-1700mm x 420-1020mm; Weight: 1.3kgProvenance: Private UK Collection.This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
