PAIR OF OTTOMAN VELVET DIVAL BOHÇAS WITH CENTRAL MOTIF - Ca. 19th - 20th century AD. A pair of purple silk-velvet wrapping cloths (bohça) in raised dival embroidery with gold-metal thread. Each panel is composed of a velvet upper face, plain-weave cotton lining and a narrow perimeter binding. The decoration comprises a lobed diamond medallion enclosing a rosette with pendant palmettes, flanked by leafy sprays, the spandrels set with diagonal bouquets, and the field enclosed by a broad scrolling vine border of rosettes and split palmettes.Size: 770mm x 1160mm; Weight: 740gProvenance: Private UK Collection.This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
