OTTOMAN DIVAL BOHCA WITH CENTRAL MOTIF - Ca. 19th - 20th century AD. A crimson silk wrapping cloth (bohça) with a prominent central lobed medallion in gold-metal thread dival embroidery. A broad border runs around all four sides with a continuous floral meander in couched gold thread, the corners set with foliate ornament. Four subsidiary gilded sprays punctuate the inner frame. The square panel is lined with undyed plain-weave cotton and finished at the perimeter with a narrow crimson binding.Size: 890mm x 850mm; Weight: 290gProvenance: Private UK Collection.
