OTTOMAN RITUAL TEXTILE FOR CHALICE - Ca. 19th - 20th century AD. An embroidered cover with keyhole opening and slit, rectangular, a fine pink ground framed by a continuous floral border and centred by a circular medallion. Worked in polychrome silk floss with stylised tulips and saz-like leaves, the opening neatly reinforced by matching embroidery. Probably a liturgical veil for an analogion or lectern, designed to fall around the upright without dismounting the stand.Size: 1570mm x 960mm; Weight: 340gProvenance: Private UK Collection.
