Bidspirit auction | A PAIR OF ZAND POLYCHOROME
A PAIR OF ZAND POLYCHOROME PAINTED BORDER TILES - Persia, Ca. 18th century AD . A pair of rectangular tiles worked in vibrant cobalt blue, turquoise, and deep red against a rich yellow ground. Each tile features a stylised vase with a flaring neck and rounded body, outlined in black and set within a symmetrical floral arrangement of scrolling vines, serrated leaves, and delicate blossoms. The composition is framed by a continuous black border, with subtle craquelure throughout, indicative of age. The tiles, once part of a larger architectural scheme, retain their original vibrancy despite some areas of wear and minor restoration along the edges. Size: 250-250mm x 210-210mm; Weight: 3.21kg Provenance: Previous property of a UK based Islamic art professional.
