GLAZED EARTHENWARE TANKARD, CHARLES CATTEAU, DESIGN D.69, BOCH FRÈRES, IZNIK STYLE - AD 1920. A glazed earthenware tankard with a cylindrical body, a flat base, and an angular strap handle. The exterior is decorated in the Iznik style with two opposite panels, each with a central bloom and rising sprays flanked by scrolling saz leaves, painted in cobalt blue, turquoise, green, and red on an off-white ground. The panels are separated by a bifurcating turquoise spray. A scrolling foliate border runs below the rim and a matching frieze above the foot, with the rim and lower edge in cobalt blue. The underside stamped ”R. V. Laroche, Belgium” and inscribed ”D.69”, indicating the design number.Size: 195mm x 170mm; Weight: 1.2kgProvenance: Private UK Collection.
