HISPANO-MORESQUE LUSTRE ALHAMBRA POTTERY VASE WITH GAZELLES - Ca. 19th - 20th century AD. A lustre-painted earthenware vase. An elongated ovoid body tapers to a flat circular base and rises to a tall fluted neck with a moulded everted rim. A pair of opposed handles spring from the shoulder to the neck. A broad band of pseudo-calligraphy on a blue ground encircles the mid-body. Below, drop-shaped medallions contain scrolling arabesque. The shoulder, edged with short crenellations, is painted on one side with a panel of striding gazelles amid foliage and on the reverse with foliate arabesque.
