A pair of gilt bronze bears, each finely cast, depicted in a crouching posture, with head slightly turned and forepaws raised, conveying a sense of movement. The figures are richly gilded. In Han dynasty art, bears symbolised strength, protection, and military valour, often associated with shamanic traditions and the northern frontier cultures that influenced early imperial iconography.
