Bidspirit auction | XING/DING WHITE GLAZED DISH

XING/DING WHITE GLAZED DISH - Five Dynasties, Ca. 10th century AD. A white-glazed lobed dish, delicately potted with a shallow, rounded body rising to a gently everted lobed rim, the dish is covered overall in a smooth, translucent ivory-white glaze, pooling slightly in the recesses and stopping short above the neatly cut foot to reveal the fine, white porcelain body. The elegant, petal-lobed form and lustrous glaze typify the refined aesthetics of northern white wares from the Xing and Ding kilns. Produced in Hebei province, these kilns were renowned for pioneering high-fired white porcelains that achieved a purity of tone and refinement of form unmatched in earlier ceramics. The dish’s subtly carved lobes echo the shape of flower petals.Size: 165mm x 30mm; Weight: 145gProvenance: Private UK Collection. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
