RARE BLUE AND WHITE PHOENIX VASE, XUANDE MARK AND OF THE PERIOD - The reign of the Xuande Emperor, Ming Dynasty, Ca. AD 1426 - 1435. A small blue and white vase finely painted in rich cobalt tones with a phoenix in flight amid scrolling lotus, framed between key-fret borders at the neck and foot. The design exemplifies the refined aesthetic of early Ming porcelain, noted for its balanced form and brilliant underglaze blue.
