CHINESE SET OF EXPORT BOWL AND DISH WITH ARABIC CALLIGRAPHY - Qing Dynasty, Ca. 18th-20th century AD. A set of porcelain bowl and dish, each piece finely painted in red and black enamel with concentric bands of Arabic calligraphy encircling a central magic square containing numerals, surrounded by additional inscriptions. The inscriptions are framed by alternating iron-red scroll motifs on a white ground, characteristic of porcelain produced in Jingdezhen for export to Islamic markets.
