TIBETAN CONCH SHELL OFFERING PIECE - Ca. 19th century AD. A ritual conch shell (dung kar) mounted with finely worked silver fittings, richly decorated with scrolling floral motifs and auspicious emblems. The surface is further embellished with inlays of turquoise and coral. In Tibetan Buddhist practice, the conch symbolises the voice of the Buddha and the spread of the Dharma, and such elaborately mounted examples were used as both ceremonial trumpets and altar offerings.Size: 270mm x 135mm; Weight: 1.65kgProvenance: Private UK Collection.
