TIBETAN GILT BRONZE FIGURE OF MANJUSHRI - Ca. 19th century AD. A finely cast gilt bronze figure of Manjushri, the Bodhisattva of Wisdom, seated in vajrasana upon a double-lotus base. The deity holds aloft the flaming sword of wisdom (khadga) in his raised right hand, symbolising the cutting through of ignorance, while his left hand holds a lotus stem with a book of sutra resting on top. The figure is richly adorned with beaded jewellery, inset turquoise, and a finely detailed crown, all framing a serene and compassionate face.
