GREEK/PHOENICIAN TERRACOTTA HEAD WITH ARCHAIC SMILE - Ca. 550 - 525 BC. A terracotta head with a round, slightly flattened hairstyle and a prominent, smooth forehead. The face is depicted with deeply set eyes, a small, straight nose, and a pronounced, slightly upturned mouth. The eyes are almond-shaped with subtle delineation for the eyelids. The ears are positioned behind the cheeks, gently moulded to the sides of the face. The underside of the head is hollow. For similar see: I Fenici, Bompianoi, 1989, n. 411.
