ROMAN AMETHYST INTAGLIO DEPICTING A BUCOLIC SCENE IN HIGH KARAT GOLD RING - Ca. AD 50 - 200. An oval amethyst intaglio engraved with a bucolic scene depicting a goatherd in profile, seated beneath a tree. He is accompanied by two goats. The intaglio is set within a gold bezel with a ribbed border supported by broad, leaf-shaped shoulders, which are joined at the back by a rounded plain shank.
