SET OF RARE HELLENISTIC HIGH KARAT GOLD HERAKLES KNOT APPLIQU?S WITH GARNET CABOCHONS - Ca. 300 - 100 BC A superb set of six gold appliqu?s, each composed of paired lobes forming an eight shape. At the centre, an oval cabochon garnet in a high collet is set within a Herakles knot, enclosed by scrollwork and granulated detail. The outer edge is framed by beaded wire, and on the reverse each short end is fitted with a pair of small suspension loops.Size: 35-35mm x 15-15mm; Weight: 31g.Provenance: Private London collection; previously part of a distinguished New York private collection, assembled between 1975 and 1995. The collection was documented and authenticated in the early 1990s by Dr. Jack Ogden and Barbara Deppert Lippitz, leading specialists in ancient jewellery.
