ROMAN STONE INTAGLIO OF YOUNG EMPEROR AS SERAPIS IN HIGH KARAT GOLD PENDANT - Ca. AD 200 A dark stone intaglio engraved with the bust of a youthful emperor in profile to the left, wearing the modius of Serapis. Mounted in a possibly later gold pendant setting with an oval bezel within a scalloped openwork frame and a ribbed cylindrical suspension loop at the apex, the reverse plain. Size: 56mm x 40mm; Weight: 20.5g. Provenance: Private UK collection; from an old British collection formed in the 1990s. Reputedly acquired from Spink.
