ROMAN GLASS CAMEO WITH A BACCHIC GROUP IN HIGH KARAT GOLD PENDANT - Ca. AD 1 - 50 An oval cameo carved with a Bacchic group, showing a satyr at left leaning over a recumbent panther, accompanied by two semi-draped maenads, one seated before the animal, the other reclining. Mounted in a possibly later gold pendant setting with a ribbed cylindrical suspension loop at the apex, the reverse plain and flat. Size: 50mm x 50mm; Weight: 25g. Provenance: Private UK collection; Ex collection of Albert Schenk, Germany, 1960s-1970s; Later in collection of Dr. J. Ginsberg Collection, Switzerland, acquired from the above in 1970s; Later in European and UK art markets.
