ROMAN AGATE CAMEO OF MEDUSA IN HIGH KARAT GOLD PENDANT MOUNT - Ca. AD 50 - 200 An agate cameo carved in high relief with the head of Medusa, framed by radiating locks of hair. The stone is set in a possibly later gold pendant mount with a plain, rounded rim, a flat back plate and an integral suspension loop above. Size: 34mm x 24mm; Weight: 16g. Provenance: Private London collection of an established Mayfair dealer and scholar with over 40 years of experience; previously part of 1970s-1990s UK collection.
