ROMAN PAIR OF HIGH KARAT GOLD EARRINGS WITH ENGRAVED LEAF MOTIF - Ca. AD 1 - 200 A matched pair of 20.5kt gold hoop earrings, each formed as a hollow ring of thick tubular section. The outer circumference is covered with tight transverse corrugations, while the inner band is engraved with a continuous frieze of stylised leaves. At the apex, a straight tubular clasp spans the gap. Size: 60-60mm x 58-60mm; Weight: 42.6g. Provenance: Private London collection; previously part of a distinguished New York private collection, assembled between 1975 and 1995. The collection was documented and authenticated in the early 1990s by Dr. Jack Ogden and Barbara Deppert Lippitz, leading specialists in ancient jewellery.
