HEAVY VIKING PERIOD HIGH KARAT GOLD BRACELET WITH HEART-SHAPED FINIALS - Ca. AD 1000 - 1200 A gold penannular bracelet with a solid rope-twisted hoop expanding to broad heart-shaped terminals. Each is formed as a slightly convex plaque bordered by a fine beaded wire and decorated on the upper face with scrolling filigree tendrils arranged in S-curves and volutes, interspersed with raised bosses, the reverse left plain. Size: 70mm x 60mm; Weight: 58.7g. Provenance: Private London collection; previously part of a distinguished New York private collection, assembled between 1975 and 1995. The collection was documented and authenticated in the early 1990s by Dr. Jack Ogden and Barbara Deppert Lippitz, leading specialists in ancient jewellery. A significant number of objects from this collection were published in a professional catalogue, a copy of which is available upon request.
