AD 1200 - 1300 A 22kt gold merchant's seal ring with an octagonal bezel engraved with a barrel between the initials G and R, framed by scrolling foliate ornament. A narrow beaded border outlines the engraved field. Broad, slightly faceted shoulders descend from the bezel to a rounded hoop. Size: D:19.15mm / US: 9 1/4 / UK: S; Weight: 14.3g. Provenance: Private London collection of an established Mayfair dealer and scholar with over 40 years of experience; previously part of 1970s-1990s UK collection.
