MEDIEVAL HIGH KARAT GOLD AND ROCK CRYSTAL RELIQUARY PENDANT WITH CRUCIFIXION - Ca. AD 1300 - 1500 A rectangular gold reliquary pendant with a flat front plate and an inset crystal panel at the reverse, the upper edge fitted with two small suspension loops. The obverse is engraved with a Crucifixion scene showing the nimbate Christ beneath the Hand of God, with the symbols of the four Evangelists in the surrounding quadrants as winged man, eagle, winged ox and winged lion. On the reverse, a recessed cell around the crystal is bordered by beaded wire and enriched with acanthus-leaf ornament. Size: 43mm x 26mm; Weight: 18.8g.
