MASSIVE PHOENICIAN GLASS EYE BEAD WITH KNOB PROJECTIONS - Ca. 400 - 200 BC A large rod-formed glass bead of barrel form in deep cobalt blue with a wide central perforation. The body is decorated with a central frieze of applied white and blue concentric eye roundels, alternating with prominent opaque yellow and white knob-like projections arranged in horizontal rows above and below. Size: 31mm x 32mm; Weight: 37g. Prince collection, 1990s-2014; Ex. Private collection 1970s-1990s; Reputedly from the Dr. Nolte collection, acquired in the early to mid 20th Century AD.
