ETRUSCAN CARNELIAN SCARAB WITH HERAKLES IN GOLD SWIVEL RING - Ca. 500 BC A carnelian scarab carved with a domed segmented carapace and notched clypeus, the underside engraved with a kneeling nude Herakles in profile to left within a hatched border. The scarab is pierced lengthwise and mounted in the bezel of a possibly later gold swivel ring formed from a slender rounded hoop, the terminals wrapped in tight coiled wire. Size: D:20.78mm / US: 11 1/8 / UK: W; Weight: 5.6g. Provenance: Private London collection; previously in a 1990s UK Ancient art collection.
