HELLENISTIC HIGH KARAT GOLD PENDANT WITH CENTRAL GARNET CABOCHON - Ca. 300 - 100 BC A gold circular pendant made from thin sheet with a ribbed cylindrical suspension loop above. At the centre, a small garnet cabochon is set in a raised collet encircled by a beaded border and a second concentric ring of granulation from which four triangular fields of close-set pellets radiate to form a star-like motif. The outer edge is framed by a continuous beaded band with further triangular groups of granules spaced around the perimeter.Size: 43mm x 38mm; Weight: 9.4g.Provenance: Private London collection; previously part of a distinguished New York private collection, assembled between 1975 and 1995. The collection was documented and authenticated in the early 1990s by Dr. Jack Ogden and Barbara Deppert Lippitz, leading specialists in ancient jewellery.
