ROMAN HIGH KARAT GOLD RING WITH STANDING FORTUNA - Ca. AD 1 - 300 A gold ring with an integral oval bezel and a hoop of D-section tapering slightly to the back. The bezel is engraved with the standing figure of Fortuna holding a cornucopia at one side and a rudder at the other. Size: D:14.48mm / US: 3 1/4 / UK: G; Weight: 6.7g. Provenance: Private London collection; previously part of a distinguished New York private collection, assembled between 1975 and 1995. The collection was documented and authenticated in the early 1990s by Dr. Jack Ogden and Barbara Deppert Lippitz, leading specialists in ancient jewellery. A significant number of objects from this collection were published in a professional catalogue, a copy of which is available upon request.
