IMPORTANT ROMAN GOLD NECKLACE - Ca. AD 1 - 200A gold necklace composed of small petal-shaped elements linked by looped connectors. From each element hangs a separate drop of fine wire, threaded with stone and glass beads of tubular, faceted and spherical form. At either end the strand is finished with scrolling terminals, one issuing a hooked rod and the other an eye to form the fastening.Size: 175/350mm x 15mm; Weight: 22g.Provenance: Private London collection; previously part of a distinguished New York private collection, assembled between 1975 and 1995. The collection was documented and authenticated in the early 1990s by Dr. Jack Ogden and Barbara Deppert Lippitz, leading specialists in ancient jewellery.
