LARGE ROMAN HIGH KARAT GOLD RING WITH RED CARNELIAN INTAGLIO DEPICTING SOCRATES - Ca. AD 1 - 200 A large gold ring with a broad flat band thickened at the front to form an oval recessed bezel enclosing a red carnelian intaglio. The stone is engraved with the bust of Socrates in profile to the left, with a bald crown, curled hair at the back of the head, and full beard. Size: D:17.12mm / US: 6 3/4 / UK: N; Weight: 6.2g.
