ROMANO-EGYPTIAN HIGH KARAT GOLD SNAKE RING WITH RED GARNET CABOCHON - Ca. 100 BC - AD 200 A gold snake ring formed from a coiled solid wire, the upper end rising into a raised snake head and the lower end tapering to a simple tail. The outer surface is decorated with a continuous series of ring and dot motifs, and at the mid-body a circular bezel is set with a red garnet cabochon framed by a beaded collar. Provenance: Private London collection; previously part of an early 2000s UK ancient art collection; formerly in the collection of G.M., prior to 1996.
