EGYPTIAN WOOD INLAY PANEL WITH HIEROGLYPHIC INSCRIPTION FROM THE BOOK OF THE DEATH - Middle Kingdom to New Kingdom, Ca 2055 - 1069 BC. A curved inlay panel carved from a single piece of wood with a long tapering form and convex outer face. The inner surface is incised with vertical columns of hieroglyphs. The inscription is part of Chapter 178 of the Book of the Dead. Size: 1050mm x 210mm; Weight: 4.3kg Provenance: Private London collection, acquired on the French art market, previously in French collection, 1970s. This piece is accompanied by an authentication report from Simone Musso, consultant curator for Egyptian antiquities at the Stibbert Museum, Florence, Italy, member of the Nuri Archaeological Expedition.
