EGYPTIAN BRONZE DAGGER WITH HIPPOPOTAMUS TOOTH POMMEL - Middle Kingdom, Ca. 2055 - 1790 BC A bronze dagger with a double-edged blade with a central rib on each face, tapering evenly to a point. The blade is set into a separately cast hilt with a short grip ending in a circular pommel carved from hippopotamus tooth, pierced by two rounded openings. Size: 35mm x 50mm; Weight: 234g. Provenance: Private Collection; UK art market, 2000s; Ex-Guy Delb?s, France, 1980s-2000s; With French art dealer Charles Ratton, late 1970s.
