EGYPTIAN BRONZE DAGGER WITH HIPPOPOTAMUS TOOTH POMMEL - Middle Kingdom, Ca. 2055 - 1790 BC A bronze dagger with a slender double-edged blade with a thick central rib on each face, tapering evenly to a sharp point. The blade is set into a separately cast hilt with a crescent-shaped plate at the base and a short grip ending in an oval pommel carved from hippopotamus tooth, pierced by two rounded openings. Size: 525mm x 60mm; Weight: 662g. Provenance: Private Collection; English art market, 2000s; collection of Michel Koenig, Belgium, 1980s - late 1990s; Ex-collection of Peter Schnell, Z?rich, 1970s.
